We are a family-owned business committed to using high quality, organic, flourless ingredients. Supporting local businesses is important to us.
In 2003 we started selling whole grain breads and baking at The St. Norbert Farmers Market as a way to share our passion for how whole grains had made a difference in our lives.
About five years into the whole-grain baking business venture, we noticed that more and more people were asking for gluten-free products. We wanted to offer our customers something out of the ordinary, yet healthy and delicious; what could we offer to fill the void? The problem was solved one summer day when Natalie remembered a delicious flax cracker that she had tried a couple years before and fallen in love with – but had no idea how to make!
We first introduced flax crackers to our customers in 2009. Because they appealed to such a wide range of health-conscious people, we decided that it was time to create a similar product that was a little on the sweeter side, yet still full of raw seeds. We wanted to feature a locally produced seed quickly becoming recognized as a superfood – hemp hearts. We experimented and through much trial and error, created the Chocolate Hemp Snacker – a raw, crunchy energy bar made primarily from organic hemp hearts. This delicious snack won the grand prize in The 2011 Great Manitoba Food Fight, enabling us to begin the process of larger scale commercialization. In 2016, Natalie was recognized as the MCM Panel’s Emerging Innovator for her creation.
Since 2011, we’ve been slowly and carefully developing the Rawnata family of products – because we believe that we have products worth sharing. Try them, like them, share them. And remember – if your diet needs a healthy boost, Rawnata is FUEL FOR RENEWAL!!
